Working environment
Are you a coffee or tea person? Do you like a quiet start or music turned up to greet the day?
Thinking about morning routines got me thinking about the environments we work in and how for some, they look very different to how they looked 2 years ago!
Working from home in some form or other looks here to stay! For me working from home is now a choice, but for many, not so much. Talking with friends and colleagues it's a real mixed bag. Some people love it, their productivity is amazing! Others find it stressful, isolating, unmotivating and totally distracting.
2 years ago I found it challenging to say the least! Trying to stay connected with my team, provide leadership and direction 🤯 add in the IT issues, phone systems not working, accessing shared drives, zoom meetings on computers with no sound cards, oh and a global pandemic! It was a ride!
What I also saw then and am still seeing now is how it impacted on so many people's mental health and wellbeing. For many in and out of the health sector the workloads got bigger not smaller and people fumbled through, there was a job to be done. But there was a cost and many are still paying the price.
Mental Health awareness week allowed the sharing of some really good evidence around what workplaces need to be doing in the wellness space, the conversations that need to be had and the crafting of appropriate strategies to support the new ways of working. Does your workplace make wellness a priority? Do you talk about stress and stressors both in and out of the workplace?
Could you be doing it better?
